Three years have passed
since Naruto went to train with Jiraiya, and it's the time known as Shippuuden. The Shinobi nations are at peace, and Gaara is proving well in his post as Kage. Tsunade still reigns as the angsty Hokage, but isn't disappointing her village in her rule. The Hidden Villages of Water, Lightning and Earth are thriving as well, ever since Orochimaru slipped away into the shadows. No more word of the Akatsuki has been uttered, and hopefully, the peace will continue.
But Jiraiya and Tsunade beg to differ. Too familiar with their former teammate, the two think that Orochimaru is taking his experiments to a much more sinister level. Jiraiya had also been researching the Akatsuki, and know that something is amiss. The organization has been having more and more meetings lately, and the group has something much worse than capturing and stealing the souls of Jinchuuriki everywhere.
However, they don't have quite enough evidence to convince others about their suspicions, and what with the Chuunin exams coming up in Konoha, the villages have enough preparations to fret about.
Meanwhile, as in all civilizations of life, no matter what is happening in society, young people grow grudges, fall in love, and partake in any drama they're capable of joining. Rumors are flying everywhere, mostly thanks to the peppy Ino, involving the gorgeous Sand kunoichi, Temari, and her 'Leaf village guide', Shikamaru. Sakura is well on her way to becoming possibly the best medic-nin Konoha has ever raised, and Neji is upholding his reputation with great chivalry of the youngest Jounin of his village. Naruto is also taking the time to rejoin with friends that he had to leave behind when he went off to train, and Hinata is finding her crush re inflamed with a deeper passion than before.
It is almost as if everyone has forgotten about Uchiha Sasuke, dragged off their memories when he flew off to train under the revered Orochimaru.
As for the snake-nin himself, he has malicious plans underway, involving kidnapping as many people as possible in the most subtle ways he can pull off, one being blaming many sudden disappearances on a tsunami that mysteriously washed away scores of bodies. And none were recovered. Wow. But what the jutsu-obsessive might just want for his dream experiment is one that makes mothers shudder with fear and lock their doors tighter, as if that would help.
And let us not forget the incredibly likable coven of S-rank criminals, the Akatsuki. Pein hopes to gain control over one more village soon, spreading his 'good.' The targeted Hidden Village? Iwagakure. No doubt the former terrorist, Deidara, will have quite a spot of fun with this project.
Who knows what comes next? It's free game.
Let the Hurricane Chronicles begin.
